About Aviation Australia

The organization now operates campuses across the country and internationally, training commercial pilots, remote aircraft pilots, cabin crew, and aircraft maintenance engineers. Programs combine technical skills, values, and real-world experience, so graduates leave ready to meet aviation's quality, safety, and environmental requirements from day one. That same focus on practical, accredited training extends to individual learners and partner companies alike.

We spoke with the Chief Examiner at Aviation Australia, who maintains the regulatory-compliant question banks and examinations that underpin licensing decisions for aircraft maintenance engineers across four regulatory frameworks.

The challenge

Aviation Australia's core assessment need was in meeting specific and differing regulatory frameworks, including: CASA Part 66, EASA Part 66, DASR MAML, and CAAM Part 66.

Because the skills tested are high-stakes—including aircraft maintenance engineering—validity and reliability are vital. So each assessment needed to randomize its questions and limit how often they reappeared on retakes. Before Questionmark, this ate up time and put test validity at risk.

With Questionmark now underpinning Aviation Australia's compliance assessments across 2,000 participants and 81 groups, the team's workload has dropped sharply—while standards and completion rates stay consistently high.

96.4% of assessments are online and proctored, enabling the scale and security Aviation Australia's operation demands.

Alongside compliance exams, Questionmark also supports Aviation Australia's aptitude-based 'Introduction to Perception' assessments which are used for pre-hire.
